Paradise Wallpapers

The design draws on Baroque wallpaper. A wreath of fruit, blossoms, and leaves—tied together with cords of oranges and lemons—appears alluring at first, yet up close reveals traces of decay and rot. Baroque ornament built from spoiled fruit sits alongside small vignettes of waste-disposal sites, with vultures circling above. Instead of offering the visual comfort of what Duchamp called “retinal art,” the pattern folds abundance and deterioration into a single plane. Its contrasts point to a broader tension: the excess of food produced for human consumption and the decadence fueled by contemporary capitalism.
