Drawing on Gestalt theory’s notion of the “unified whole” and the idea that we frequently perceive separate elements as being joined together, as for instance, filling in the blanks, where a huge piece of the floor is hidden underneath the furniture. This carpet is a reference to Persian rugs. It is made of spices, suggesting that we often come to know another culture through their food.

The interactive, digital opium-poppy wallpaper altered its pattern, in response to the weather data from Kabul, Afghanistan. The wallpaper’s initial pristine symmetry slowly cascades into chaotic disarray.
The viewer’s presence is registered via sensors that cause the wallpaper to erase itself.
The initially pristine ornamental symmetry slowly yields to entropy.
